Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), Maharashtra, India. The term is often used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; however, it is only a part of the larger Indian film industry, which includes other production centers producing films in multiple languages. Bollywood is one of the largest film producers in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world. It produces around 200-300 films annually and has a global audience. Many Bollywood films are musicals and are known for their elaborate song and dance numbers.
